Engineering and building the invisible infrastructure behind fintech and transit technology.
I'm a Senior Software Engineer with 4+ years of experience spanning banking software, multi-bank financial systems, and large-scale domestic & international transit payment platforms — working end to end across backend architecture and system design.
About
I've built the kind of things nobody thinks about — until they break.
That's mostly what the last four years have been about: building and hardening platforms — across banking, fintech, and transit — where downtime isn't an inconvenience, it's a headline.
Most of that work sits in the backend — Java microservices, HSM-based key security, encryption across banking integrations, and APIs that hold up under real transaction load. But I've never treated frontend as someone else's problem; I've built and maintained React interfaces for the same systems, because ownership doesn't stop at the API boundary.
What I've learned to value most isn't the clever solution, it's the boring, reliable one — the kind that survives a production incident at 2am, the kind a junior engineer can pick up without me explaining it twice. That's shaped how I mentor too: I've sat on 70+ technical interviews, less to gatekeep and more to find people who think the same way.
Experience
Senior Software Engineer
Mar 2024 — Present- Designed and delivered multiple REST APIs for high-volume transit and banking transactions across metro cities, at ~300–500ms average response time.
- Integrated HSM for card key management and transaction signing, closing a critical vulnerability in the payment flow.
- Engineered end-to-end encryption (PGP, AES-256, RSA) across vendor and banking integrations.
- Led the QR payment module from design to production, coordinating with national payment regulators for compliance — now live across all metro stations.
- Built an asynchronous Bulk SMS pipeline with Spring Batch and multithreading, achieving ~3× throughput over the legacy system.
- Reduced average API response time 20–30% through SQL optimisation and index tuning.
- Mentored the team as Git approver and interviewer, conducting 70+ technical interviews.
- Designed and delivered REST APIs for a national Transit Card Management system, coordinating directly with international UI teams.
- Optimised Kafka topic configurations, reducing average message processing time by ~20% for high-volume card operations.
- Held co-ownership of the Corporate Portal module across 3+ sprint cycles.
- Secured inter-service communication via TLS mutual authentication and an API gateway layer.
Java Developer
May 2023 — Sep 2023- Led end-to-end API development in Spring Boot and Java 8, delivering 10+ features to documentation and security standards.
- Replaced two premium third-party API subscriptions with in-house integrations, cutting vendor costs.
- Optimised existing codebases, cutting response time on key endpoints by ~15%.
- Introduced the ELK Stack for centralised log aggregation, reducing time-to-debug from hours to minutes.
Software Developer Intern
Feb 2023 — May 2023- Built and optimised Spring Batch jobs handling 500K+ records per run with validation and transformation pipelines.
- Reduced failed-run rate from ~12% to under 2% through error handling and retry logic.
